Why Regular Eye Exams Matter

Many eye conditions develop slowly and without symptoms. By the time you notice something, it has usually been going on for a while.

A comprehensive exam is $85 and takes about half an hour. It is the least expensive thing in the shop and the most important.

Skipping exams usually means:

  • Prescription drift, the slow change behind eye strain and headaches.

  • Squinting through glasses that are almost right.

  • Drugstore readers that cover up the real problem.

  • Missing changes that are easier to deal with early.

What a Comprehensive Exam Checks

A comprehensive exam is more than reading letters off a chart. If your current glasses feel almost right but not quite, this is usually where the answer shows up.

The exam covers:

  • Your exact prescription, for distance, reading, and screens.

  • Eye health screening, including early signs of glaucoma and cataracts.

  • How your eyes focus and work together.

  • Honest advice on whether your glasses need changing at all.

The optometrist measures how each eye focuses, refines your exact prescription, then checks the health of the eye itself. You leave knowing whether anything has changed and what, if anything, to do about it.

Glasses, Contacts, or Both

The $85 exam gives you a glasses prescription. Contacts sit directly on the eye and need their own measurements, so if you wear them or want to start, book the $145 visit and leave with both prescriptions.

Your prescriptions are yours to keep, whether you fill them here or not. Most people fill them here, because the frames are better.
